Jim May | living at His place

David said the kingdom has always been there.
Jesus said the kingdom was not "over here or there."
He said it’s in me and if I sought it first, I would have all I need.
He said it was hidden like leaven a loaf.
It is like another dimension right on top of us
It bubbles to the surface of the crust of the world
Like the geysers in Yellowstone.

I had to see it with different eyes.
Hear it
In the songs of David,
See it in the life of Jesus,
The work of M. Teresa,
The reports of spies back out of eternity,
Like Pascal, Lewis, Hugo, and Dostoyevsky,
At breakfast with honest seekers.
And Sitting by a crystal clear lake in the Rockies.

We know the kingdom is there
Because of the longing in the hearts of men
In the songs of romance aching for love that lasts.
In the search for utopia and universal peace,
In the hiker plunging into the beauty of nature,
In business man wanting relief from the pressure,
In the weary religious heart who went to church.

But love fades, utopias fail and churches fall.

The kingdom doesn’t come without the king.
"Hello darkness, my old friend, I’ve come to talk with you again…"

So my dear niece, now I will answer.
When will the kingdom come?
It has been there all along, in your heart
When you hug your boys, talk to your friend, and endure the pain.
We were waiting for a kingdom that had already come
Like the Jews looking for a Messiah who was speaking to them.
Like a man on a horse looking for a horse to ride.

When will it appear?
When everything that is not "The Way"
Destroys itself.
